      cheers! there were quite a few of them early in November, cos there was a sharp frost before it got too cold for the spiders to be spinning webs! Normally we don't get frosts like that till the spiders are dead/dormant...

      I've never seen this effect. Great catch. I want one - but I'll have to wait a while.
      Is this because of extreme cold?

      I *think* it happened because there was a really sharp, sudden frost (it was -8 Celsius) while the spiders were still spinning webs. Normally by the time it gets this cold, the spiders aren't around I think?

      This place was also on a bridge over a stream (River Rea), so the air was very moist, so I guess there was more water vapour to make the crystals.

      This is amazing. It never gets cold enough for something like that where I live. I've seen many spiderwebs (and web photos) with dewdrops, but this is the first frosted one. Beautiful!
