to Ganga...
in this life…this is not the Ganges
but, in other times I have sat, in peace, beside Her…
while kites flew
and small boys bathed their buffalo
and women spread their laundry in the sun
and young girls with laughing faces
danced along the steps
while starving dogs barked
and boatmen slept
and merchants sold their marigolds
and holy men prayed
and bodies burned in blazing fire…
their ashes and souls mingling with Her waters
as they made their way to the light
between lives.
but in this life when I saw Her
I remembered.
my heart at rest at last
and tiny lights floated my prayers to the sea
that again She will call me home.

This is so moving; the words (yours?) and the image, the light, your posture... everything. Very well done lady amma_maw!

Super words and image, I love the framing and for me the exposure is spot on.
It looks like, apart from the intrusion of taking the picture it was a very tranquil moment.

I know how hard it can be to fall in love with a country.
There will always be a part of you there and sometimes you want to go there again and take that part to be a complete person again.but this is not possible. That part is forever there...
My english is not good , I know. But I want you to know that these words and these photo are touching me.
Perfect work!

In this life, she is in your heart and so, is there, beside you. Her energy is now part of you, to be continued in the next light & life.
Lovely words you have penned & so easily spoken. Peace.

I really can equate with this picture. I can see myself, introspective, for hours, by the water.

beautiful & touching reflection and picture... I know there must be something very special about mother Ganga.
My sister Doris visited India this Summer for a month and now she is going back to live in India for 6 month...She told me she never felt happier or more at peace then in India.

it seems every time i sit by waters (here), i remember Her. i'll never forget the first time my eyes met Ganga Ma--complete and total peace--the first time i touched her waters to my head, the first time i bathed and dunk 3 times...that was when i married my love and fell in love with Her. thanks for bringing back those memories again this morning...
