Aurelius "Aurie" Battaglia

Aurelius "Aurie" Battaglia by BearSouffle.
(Photo from the collection of John Canemaker)
Battaglia was more famous for his children's book during the 1950s, but he also worked at UPA where he directed films like THE INVISIBLE MOUSTACHE OF RAOUL DUFY. This photo is from the late-1930s when he was working at Disney. You can see what he looked like in the 1950s in this photo.

This is so surreal to finally see one of my biggest influences face to face. I've never seen a photo of him until now. What did he work on at Disney? I'm assuming Snow White since tons of artists were grabbed for that production.

Battaglia has story credits on PINOCCHIO and DUMBO. Like you say though, he was likely there from the production of SNOW WHITE.
