Beautiful colors! Reminiscent of the American Old West more so than Australia, to me. Except for that tree on the left there. I don't think they had those in the Old West. :P

Mark, just saw this, and was going to fave it, but realised I already did yesterday. (See - you come out with so many good ones, it's hard to keep track). It's like an idyllic summer, but I suspect it's rather drier than the word idyll would imply. Marvellous shot. If it's meant to be slightly disturbing, then the colour of the sky really sets it off down that route. Anyway, gloom and doom aside: have a Happy New Year, David

@ DCKA - David I'm messing with your mind - I switched the order of a couple of images (because I can) ;)

Yes, the drought is biting. Yes I wanted to imply some menace in this image. We are at the mercy of the planet - we should be aware of that and respect that. Small flimsy things we put on the planet to live and work in will be turned to dust and blown away.

There are always greater forces than we know at work. Bodes well for new years eve eh?

We're surviving but we're all on severe water restrictions, but life goes on pretty much as normal in most ways. In a good way, it's forcing people to go a bit environmentally conscious - people here are starting to go to all sorts of lengths to conserve water (buckets in the shower to collect water, using 'grey water' from the clothes washer and kitchen sink on the garden, and installing water tanks under the house, just to name a few).

All the best to you too for 2007.

Thanks to everyone who has checked out my photos here in 2006. I'm thrilled that my work reaches so many.

Happy new year to you all! Please be safe and be happy. Love your children.
