Central State Hospital

Central State Hospital (originally called the Georgia Lunatic Asylum) was established in 1837, when Governor Wilson Lumpkin asked the Georgia State Legislature to care for "idiots, lunatics, and the insane."

It was at one time the second largest mental health facility in the world. It is still in use, and most of the original buildings remain (although not all are in use). It is an overall extremely creepy place, and purportedly very haunted.
