Day 371: It's Cool to Fake Romances

Newer Older

RachelK (not to be confused with RachelB) is finishing up her 365 here soon... she asked for some help going out with a bang. So I got this shot... made a print, and got a little creative!

long ago, my original intention was to hit the tracks in a dress... but rain, and snow have impeded the venture... and today was just too dern cold (and still wet) to attempt that!

I did end up enlisting a photog assistant, a little freaked at the idea of my camera on the tracks, on a tripod, and me on my belly... what if I got distracted and missed a train!?

Thanks Andy, for your watchful eye, and not making TOO much fun of me and the whole process!

oh man... thank you SO much for stopping in from there! seriously, I was beginning to develop a complex... I not only do I feel like I put out some quality stuff this month, but yesterday I was inundated with comments and faves... but still no dice in explore. come to discover, this evening, the new uploader was making everything blocked from public searches... after nearly an hour of fixing each stupid photo... YOU, have made my evening complete. thanks!

    *sigh of relief*

Great shot - I like the shot that was the inspiration, but yours is much more powerful. Good use of long lens, composition with the lines going just in the right direction, the slight tilt, your feet cutting through the rail, subtly breaking the symmetry which is a big part of the puzzling expression - face, hands, hair. It's a nice nod to the "original" having it in the right corner, and more importantly it completes the four corners of the composition.

Wow, I rarely give a long review like this. Do try it again with a dress, and possibly different light.

This is a great photo. I'm really taken by the expression on your face. For me that's what really takes a nice photo and makes it really interesting. I can't help but wonder what was on your mind .

you are always funny, thanks for your presence in my stream!

wow, I hardly know how to respond to such accolades...

    muchísimas gracias!

thank you... one thing I've tried hard to do in all my SPs is to really reach into the trunk of expressions, all be them sometimes subtle, and really pull out a punch for each shot... not often easily accomplished or even half-way decent, but this apparently worked here.
And my thoughts, well... getting to what I'm trying to represent, sometimes is best left between me, my brain, and the GoodLord who has to hear about it all! ;)

It may be cool to fake romances, but it is seriously uncool to lie down on a railroad. So very silly.....
