Day 38/365 ~ We Read to Know We Are Not Alone

I love reading but I hate the feeling of never having the chance to meet the characters for the first time ever again. Reading an excellent book is like falling into a beautiful story, getting to know strange and interesting people that somehow manage to share the same character traits, walking on the path of a journey that isn't yours, but lets you know everything about it. Books are friends - friends who don't judge, friends who remain the same, friends who let you know the ending. Having a book in your hand, is akin to holding hands with a dear friend - someone who will never forsake you.

    "Universal characters" btw for your Literature class. This is defined as those characters you do feel affinity with, or as you put it, fall in love with ....because you relate. These characters struggle and we want them to win because yes we consider them "friends" ....and because we see ourselves in them. So the characters and the themes we relate to and feel that affinity with are considered "universality" when you next take your exams, Amanda. This is what that means.

    Love the light on this, it's so white and pure flowing in from the window ....the white on white is excellent here ........love great reading shots and this is one of the best, if not the best, I have ever seen.

    Btw I feel as you do, to hold the book(s) in hands ...I refuse to get the Amazon Kindle or the B & N Nook readers here, the husband keeps trying to get me one as gift lol .....he likes to read online (but he's computer engineer ...and with the way his eyes are aging, he sees more easily that way, but I get tired of being on computer all day ...when it's time to read I want to sit in bed or on chair stretched out .....not worry about glare). Also going into a great old library and smelling those books, or I will often pay more for hardback, esp. leather bound, because I love the feel and the smell, Amanda. If it wasn't sacreligious I'd probably state I worship books ......I don't but yeah, books are just one of the greatest creations ever, imo up there with the wheel.

    Last night we watched part of this Mysteries of the Museum thing ....which is irrelevant except that it was cool ......the Gerald Ford (one of our former presidents; I am wondering what is gonna be in George W. Bush's Museum now after watching this last night) Museum has the metal staircase from the Fall of Saigon. Of course the history was briefly given but his feelings, so mixed .....that yes thousands were rescued but then thousands also "relocated" when the city actually fell.

    Also yesterday our college prep planner kept stressing "read". "Grow your vocabulary" .......

    Awesome picture, hands down Amanda. Back when I was in high school I used to read a book a day. At he time I was very fond of the redwall series. When I got to college, I had no more time for recreational reading :(
