Civic Duty of Exercising My Rights - 1/52

Everyone better get out and vote. Even if you aren't doing it for my guy, or your state won't go for the guy you want, go do it. Vote for love, for peace, for the advancement and betterment of everyone in the nation - not for pettiness and fear. If we all help each other and make our voices heard, we can all make a difference and bring this nation to a new and finer place.

And, I suppose, I'll go ahead and dip my toes into required weekly photos. With that said, I'm going to start out small, doing the 52 Weeks group. Hopefully I can keep things going the whole year. Who knows, I may really get to liking it. :D

Yay! Voting feels so good! I agree, if you don't vote there is not a reason to complain. Good Bokeh shot!

Voting for me was like Christmas when I was a little kid. I could barely sleep last night waiting for the polls to open at 7AM!

Excellent! I'll be voting Obama after work today. Regardless of how the rest of my state votes.

Hope your guy wins! I voted for him 2 weeks ago. I have a feeling he'll carry Travis county by a ~20% margin, which will still help him with the popular vote and a better mandate even if Texas goes for McCain.

Nice photo by the way :-)

I was wrong about the 20% margin. Obama won in Travis county by a 30% margin! Way to go Austin!

Thank you! I'm personally very happy the election turned out how it did on the national scale - unfortunately, a couple local elections went the other way, so I guess you win some and you lose some. Hopefully, where the new President leads, the rest of the nation will follow...
      Thanks!

Nice capture. I did better than just voting, I worked from 6am to 8:30pm at a polling place on campus - on my feet most of the time. I don't think my feet, back or arthritic hip will ever be the same again.

    24. Amanda SG (43 months ago | reply)

Yeah, the work schedule wouldn't allow for any volunteering. Must have been nuts! The feet were sacrificed for a good cause, and good on you for doing that!

really awesome use of the bokeh! this is just a spectacular shot.

I voted for the first time ever in the primary and the election. Like yours my vote didn't quite make it across to carry Texas, but at least we won Harris County!!
