I am from the Buffer zone and I like Your
maps. It's a great project. Try to make the
same from Russia point of view. I feel that
the place where I live will be a buffer zone
again :)
i agree with everything but "smelly
people" yanks looove france... and
especially paris. may be call it "where
people kiss and eat stripy potatoes"
?!?!
Love it! England should have been labeled
"Mom", though, because to Americans
"mummy" is exclusively a bandaged
Egyptian corpse. And I'm not sure most
younger Americans even get as specific as
apfelkuchen with Austria... I always thought
of it as a sort of "Germany Lite"
or "Hitler's Birthplace."
- LOL. That is a common mistake even in
Europe. :))) Of course, smelly objects have their charm
too. I like French cheese very much, for
example so both things don't necessarily
cancel out. ;) Bahahaha! Greetings from Mexico! Now this is an original idea. Maybe I can
even ask a programmer to make it dynamic and
use geotagging to populate it with photos
instead of text as well. Well you know, mummy for England can have
multiple meanings, including the ones you
mentioned. But I always thought Hitler was
born in Hell on the eve of Halloween. ;)
I'm an American and like someone else
mentioned, the spelling "mummy"
exclusively means the Egyptian kind. Plus
I've never heard of anybody refer to the UK
as "mom" or anything similar. My
friends and I agreed "mummy" was a
reference to the British Museum which is
apparently full of mummies.
I noticed that too - not the spelling but the
"mother" idea. Lots of people who
want to travel to the UK need to have a
british grandparent if they want to get some
sort of work visa (used to be the case
anyway). Also, somehow people (used to)
get British Passports because they have a
grandmother who is British.
Alright then, makes sense! I really like this
poster and I'd buy it in a heartbeat to put
in my flat. It'd be quite funny because I
live in Germany at the moment, but
unfortunately it costs more to ship it here
than the actual print.
I adopted a more "Christian" view.
But you are right, some Americans don't even
bother asking, like the Service of the Bureau
of the Consular Affair indicates in its article about the Netherlands:
"In 2007, several American visitors
reported experiencing excessive drowsiness,
confusion, dizziness, and nausea after
drinking alcohol in public areas such as
hotel bars and night clubs in several cities
throughout the Netherlands. These effects may be the result of
unknowingly ingesting drugs surreptitiously
placed in drinks."

Speaking as someone of 'recent' German descent who lives in US, Germany should be labeled "beer, bratwurst, Nazis and lederhosen". *sigh*....

Well, don't be that literary analytical. It's supposed to be a little bit of both - a mother and a mummy. ;)

Now that's what I call drug fear-mongering. :)
