We need an update.
We managed to put Ethiopia and Somalia way more down.
Not sure about the location, but definitely not in the peninsula.
The new acquired countries are still under investigation. I.e Classification.
We are evaluating if they should go under the labels of "mafia" or "the rest of italy".
In particular after the new findings, mafia if just everywhere, and we can afford
to have constant rubbish on the front door. This last of course for the "rest of italy"
label, not on my door.
The italian dialects are perceived as friends while Carla Bruni is not such a star in Italy.
She doesn't pay the food and wine war. France is still the salsa makers. (please note:
here it is not the dance, but the people who makes salsas when they cannot cook).
Germans never been clock addicts. Just addicts. The watch side belongs to Switzerland
For which the italians have to very clear concepts: swatch and cucu! (cucu is the one you
put in the wall and... you got which one).
Germans are usually: "crucchi" (for which I might go against the wikipedia description).
I would guess that the closest expression is: "mangia patate". Literally: potato eaters.
You might indeed find out yourself why I propose this: check wikipedia.
For the rest Switzerland is a fully unknown place beside using it as a synonym of
neutrality. But never in a positive way.
Indeed the uncharted side is not that unknown. We, Italians, look at them within a very
unstable equilibrium between friends and pimps. We indeed only know about Albania
and Yugoslavia. We do not really need to distinguish between a Slovenian and a Croat.
What for? They are all the same. Just, we pretend that being on the same see, it might
make a connection. Which I personally do not want underestimate. But just for the sake of
the map I would write: " the poor friends".
There is also a couple of mistakes in the north. Rugby is the 6 nations.
We are proud about it. It is not Ireland. It is the 6 nation cup and by the way this year
we are pretty good.
With Ireland we do share indeed the see side. Most would say the 'guinness' the beer.
But we know about 'the dubliners' (the group) probably nobody read the 'dubliners'.
Still. At the question: Ireland? Guinness, whiskey and the see. No rugby, just with the mind
in the free see of enjoying the life time. In this view Ireland is the dream of Italians.

Let's put it this way:
for the sake of the discussion, I do not think that Carla became the image of France.
And also she is far to be the image of France for the Italians.
If it is not the actual history, it is definitely the history that Italians are studying. Were Studying.
While B. changed the face of Italy via the media, I still believe that in the bottom of the italian
feelings there is still space to appreciate a person which got projected into a first lady.
We can only speculate about their love story and the reasons and meanings.
I do not think she is hot. I just think that she can make use of her music and her position
to socially connect Italians and French people: The roman empire will get back to
unification via a song. I am probably too romantic.
I leave the discussion about globalisation to another forum.
The fact is: Bruni is not France. I think we do historically respect each other.
The salsa makers fits pretty good to the current perception.

I think you over-analyze this map - it is supposed to be fun, with a nod to reality but also a bit ultra-simplistic and at times - grotesque.
Of course Carla is not the first association that regular Italians have but she's a symbol nonetheless and she comes from Italy. Catherine de Medici was also Italian and I'm pretty sure it's not among the first associations either but culturally and historically she's an icon... and that's much more indicative than some salsa or whatever else we have in the culinary basket. same goes for Ethiopia and Somalia - those labels were never intended to be strictly correct, even from a satirical point of view.
