Men From The Past in Sepia

I gimped this by using a layer that was set to sepia, then using a layer mask, selectively created transparent areas where I wanted the sepia to show through.

It's a reversal of the more common B&W picture with a single color element.

This re-enactment is from March 2005. On Dorchester Heights in South Boston, George Washington used this location during the seige of Boston and eventually drove the British out. One of the cannon used during that campaign was brought back and historical actors shot similar cannon, and muskets.

Very cool. At first glance, I did not see that the image was tweaked. The sepia-colour contrast makes the distance between this stranger and the modern people in the left background even greater.

This is a beautiful photograph and it would fit perfectly into our pool that aims to perpetuate the memories of America's stuggle for independence during the Revolutionary War, "The Revolution Flickred". Thanks for posting. I only wish I knew what "gimp" is.

barneykin, thanks for the blog. :)

The GIMP is an open source alternative to Photoshop, it's what I used to make this image.
