    You all know I've been trimming down our dvd library. Just when you thought I was done, no I wasn't. I really loved how all the dvds fit in the open baskets on the bottom but wasn't in love with the way they were exposed. So, I sold the baskets and got me similar ones from crate and barrel again but this time with the lids. The lids are hinged so they are easy to open and hide all our dvds.

    Again, one of my rules for organizing is that to keep everything in one place. This shelf is a media shelf and I got nothing but media stuff. The baskets on the bottom hold DVDs, the baskets on the second shelf hold my cameras, TV games and CDs. And the third shelf is dedicated for photo related storage.

    I didn't want to do "storage" all the way up so I left two top shelves for display. I change what goes in the frames periodically depending on the season. Right now I have Paris map wrapping paper, vintage music sheets and a couple of postcards in them.

    I think it's a major improvement from 2 years ago :)

      After slimming down library, but I wasn't truly satisfied with it because you can still see the dvds from the top.

      Wow, this is wonderful. So clean and easy on the eyes. I think when the eyes flow easily around it makes for a calmer space. You are good as it is difficult to style bookshelves so nicely.

      Thanks! yep that's my intention. We only have a living room and a bedroom so everything has to be stored visually calm and pretty. If I were able to put my bookcase and shelf in a different room dedicated for crafts or something I'd use more color but for now I use very neutral color so you won't get distracted.

      Ohhhh, swoon. I am in love with this!! Excellent job ab. I follow that same rule.......all things of a sort together. Otherwise, it's not really organized.

      Lovely project, looks so tidy and pretty. I have an ongoing battle with hiding CDs and DVDs so that they're easy to get to, but not on display - so ugly!
