our beloved francois

Francois is the manager at Daddy Long Legs, where we stayed for our time-off in Cape Town. He is hilarious, and sweet, and cute -- and says things like "cool banana!" and "it's a piece of pie!" in a South African accent.

Here, he's helping Bryan to start our 1987 VW Fox, which we rented to drive to Hermanus for an overnight. The car was a nightmare -- it literally took Bryan 24 hours to find first gear. Good thing we weren't in SF... Not so easy to start up Lombard in second.
