The Ondine

The Ondine

I have been commissioned to make new work for an exhibit in Grenoble, France. I have a lot to get done for the exposition.

I will use one of my favorite models (Ms. J) and am considering another model as well.

The new work will be a political and feminist commentary. I am sure it will anger both conservatives and liberals a like.

I feel the reason as it's leaving me

I feel the reason as it's leaving me

This image was for my blog post entitled: The world you know is not like it is

With this illustration I wanted a reason to press heavy on the pencil like I was clawing at the paper. Just before I could pierce the Moleskine’s paper the pencil lead would break I would repeat and repeat on this same action on the edges. The flood fills are staggered sloshes of india ink. I like the original in my sketchbook more than the Instagram photograph (the one you are seeing). The pencil has this hard presence and the india ink as a muted suffocated intensity. I’m just too tired to shoot the illustration with a proper camera. This sketch is part of my venting my emotions about my fathers sudden death.

The illustration was an under 10 minute one in pencil. I was sad, angry and crying as I scratched it out. This sketch is part of my venting my emotions about my fathers sudden death.

This image was for my blog post entitled: The war of attrition and the pyrrhic victory

The illustration is an emotional self-portrait. It was made in my A3 Moleskine watercolor sketchbook. I used coffee, graphite & watercolors. This sketch is part of my venting my emotions about my fathers sudden death.
