The Niagara River and the waterfall give us a nice, cheap, clean energy source. It's both a blessing and a curse. Part of the "curse" aspect is that a lot of dirty industrial plants have plopped down here over the years, which give us huge swaths of territory near which people don't want to live or shop. It's even worse when the factories go out of business, because then you have a big decaying factory that nobody wants to live near without the benefit of the jobs or tax base.
