honolulu lulu
lulu surfing with consummate aloha at the beach near our home
the shorebreak wave was virtually gone, so she was just about to go in
for a swim! .. (thus the blur :)
lulu is actually really good at surfing - due to her ultra-low center
of gravity! - and can even surf backwards..
she taught herself to surf!
by climbing on a surfer's board as he was coasting in one day when she
was only a few months old... boy, was he surprised.. :)
this image was taken when she was about 4 .. as i recall there was a
surfer nearby who gave her surfboard one last shove.
(its the only photograph i know of, alas, of lulu surfing ... so for
those of you who wrote asking to see her surf .. such as it is, messy
from being on the refrigerator door & scanned for me years ago by
a friend ..here she is, 'hanging 10' off the side :)

what a hotdog, or is that goofyfoot... I get my surfing terms mixed up, dear alight! All those years in Texas... tried to surf in the bathwater of The Gulf of Mexico off Galveston a few times (teensy waves, just my style) and never did stand up on the board..., fell off every single time! LOL! Lulu has me put to shame!

Lulu must be part fish. She is a sea dog par excellence. How do you get all the salt out of her hair, and is her skin healthy?? Does she eat fish and other sea creatures?? She could be an ad dog and sell surfboards and became rich. Lulu boards. Kudos

Michael, yes she must be part fish :) .. am told Basset Hounds usually avoid water ..but Lulu raced into the water the first time i took her to the ocean when she was a puppy!..
1- i wash the salt from her with fresh water & essential oil shampoo... so yes, her skin is very healthy.
2- yes, fish is part of her diet along with organic veggies & grains (i prepare it all for her).
3- "Lulu Boards"! great idea.. :) ...actually she was in The Blood Bank of Hawaii television commercials for 5 years - so she is famous over here!.. (but, no, we aren't rich - she gave all her earnings back to The Blood Bank to help them in their good works..)
