Meddling with nature

Meddling with nature

This is an eastern bearded dragon. Haven't seen them in this area since I was a kid. We have two regular visitors now - making the most of the abundant insect life at the moment.
We can't let Harry near these guys. He is a genetically enhanced creature; an Australian terrier. That means his forebears have been progressively selected and bred to hunt reptiles and rats. That is his core instinct. It is what defines him. And he is that way, because humans thought it was a good idea to manipulate the genetic traits of his breed for a specific job. To keep the vermin away from the farm.
So now, we have to keep an eye on him in the summer months. He has no fear, and will attack lizards and snakes. That won't always end well for him or the snake. Both of whom are precious creatures.
