Smile more :) take two

Smile more :) take two

This is a retake. I had taken this shot with the same lens, the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 but using a Nikon D80. You can see it here.

I took this one with the same 50mm but this time on a Nikon FM2 with a Fuji 400 positive color slides film roll. Which one do you like better?

Alessandro's Sunset

Alessandro's Sunset

Alessandro's Sunset

A silhouette view of the S. Alessandro Cathedral in Milano. Yes, we do get nice sundowns in Milano too! :)

This is mainly to celebrate my return home after two months of hospitalization during which I underwent a bone marrow transplant. You can learn more about what a stem cells transplant is by reading this article on my website.

I have been fighting acute promyelocytic leukemia for more than two years. Then a transplant became necessary and, thanks God, my brother was found compatible for being my donor. I am now at home in the recovery phase that will last a few more months.
Good that I live at the 7th floor and there are no other taller buildings too close to me so at least I can show you some sunset or dawn from time to time :)

I will also be uploading older photos that I have been too busy to upload before. This is also to celebrate my return to flickr after a break that last all the time of the transplant. It's nice to be back! :)

Orange is the color

Orange is the color

Of health. Can oranges help cancer prevention?
The relationship between vitamin C and cancer prevention seems present, but whether oranges do prevent cancer or not, they are still the healthiest food on earth, they look good, and taste SO good! It seems that vitamin C also plays a role in strengthening the immune system and protecting the heart and circulatory system. The Sicilian orange (protected origin) contains 40% more vitamin C than regular oranges.
Orange is the color of health :)

Wonder Salmon

Wonder Salmon

Peck is a Milano, Italy institution. Shopping for food there is an investment, but this steamed salmon was the end of the world! Above Peck is the restaurant Gracco, from the homonymous cook, also very famous and at least as damaging to your wallet. This however, I still haven't had the chance to try so be advised, and don't blame it on me if you feel that you didn't get a fair value for money :)

About my health (see my profile), I have now been in isolation for about a month. I have completed a cycle of high dose chemotherapy, and now my values are very low, should recover in about one week. I've been doing 5 spinal taps since then, and leukemia cells seem to be rapidly decreasing in my central nervous system. Following this, I will go for even higher doses of chemotherapy and total body irradiation, to which will follow my bone marrow transplant. Join the facebook group BEAT LEUKEMIA here, or vist the beat leukemia webiste here.
Oh! And see my 'isolation' shot here :)
