This started as a tonal sketch and ended up being a drawing for a potential painting idea of a skull on my bookshelf reflected in the glass of the windowsill at night.

My instructor Scott Noel makes fantastic set ups on the model stands, in this particular case our fantastic model Roger was more than willing to do a reclining pose on a downward slopping stand propped steeply against the wall!! One of the school's sculpture made it into the background along with a student. Bizarre but cool, in my opinion!

This was a three week exercise in glazing - the first 3 hour session we drew in and began putting in minimal values, the next 3 hour session we began glazing the figure, and the last 3 hour session we began glazing background, fabrics, and all around adjustments. Unfortunately I never made it down to the foot at the foreground of the picture - I was close to finishing but scrubbed it off because the model moved her foot to a much more appealing position which I wanted to capture.

A 3 hour study of a long pose that was taking place back at my mentor's school, "The Boston School of Painting." He was kind enough to let me in on the second to last day of this pose to get in a fun sketch. Stephanie is a great model! I wish I could've worked it more.
