Catherine the Great - The Enlightened Empress

Catherine the Great - The Enlightened Empress by Alexia Sinclair.
Catherine the Great - The Enlightened Empress - Part of the Regal Twelve series.

The German born princess emerged from obscurity when she was chosen to become the wife of the future Emperor Peter III. Changing her name to Catherine, she read widely and familiarised herself with Russian conditions and values. Her fervent embrace of both the Orthodox faith and Russian culture, won her much love from the Russian people. Her husband Peter, on the otherhand, was said to have the intellect of a child. Once he succeeded to the Throne, a group of conspirators, headed by Catherine’s current lover, proclaimed her autocrat. Shortly afterward Peter was murdered.

Stunning photo! I like the seamless transition from the "skirt" to the "top", if you had not tagged it with bodypaint, I would not have seen it!

I also looked at your portfolio and I have to say that is really great work!
I like all themes from the "early modern period" and the less photoshoped portraits!

Orthodox icons and eggs of Faberge seem to be the only things you know about Russia and that you can use as a decoration.
Catherine the Great lying on icons looks absolutely awkward.

There is a Russian proverb: "Развесистая клюква". Actually it is a citation from the Rilke's poem that he tried to write in Russian. It can be loosely translated as "branchy cranberry". It is used when you want to say that something is a tall tale.
Those pictures are a kind of "Развесистая клюква"... or else "Лубок".
