Manhunt & High Speed Chase Aftermath, November 24th & 25th, 2008 |
On November 24th an LAPD officer in
pursuit of a suspect - according to KTLA
- shot himself in the leg. Initially,
LAPD, Santa Monica PD, and Culver City
PD responded as if someone else had shot
the officer. They cordoned off a huge
section of Venice using probably 50
squad cars and two helicopters.
During that time, some people who had nothing to do with the crime, broke the police line and led probably 20 cars on a high speed chase North on Lincoln and then East on Ocean Park Blvd.
I caught some of this on video, and then followed the sirens and choppers to arrive at the end of the chase. According to the accident investigator, the van was probably going about 80mph when it started skidding, spun around, and crashed into a parked car.
