Winning entry in Derek Lea's Creative Photoshop CS4 competition (fall season). I was delighted to learn I had won the competition launched by Derek Lea, Author of the Creative Photoshop CS4 book.

The challenge was to recreate his book's cover image which was open to interpretation. I decided to submit an entry which showcased my 'Mimique' style whilst respecting the source imagery provided by Derek.

Succubus ~ A licentious female demon which takes on the illusory appearance of a female human being and seeks copulation with men whilst they are sleeping.

The Queen of all the Succubi was Nahemah. According to the view of most medieval theologians, incubi outnumbered succubi by nine to one, but the ladies made up in menace for what they lacked in numbers by being alluring & persuasive, using their considerable, powerful charms to seduce men & lead them to eternal damnation.

Neolithic burial mound, Newgrange, County Meath (near Dublin), Ireland

The foremost example of Stone Age Irish art namely, the Newgrange megalithic tomb, is a World Heritage Site of over 5000 years old. With its elaborate Celtic decorative arts, it is part of the Brú na Bóinne prehistoric complex built 500 years before the Great Egyptian Pyramid of Giza in about 3200 BCE.
Megalithic art experts calculate it took a workforce of 300, about 20 years to complete.

Three hundred acres of botanical delights & beautiful landscapes grace The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, which sit beside the south bank of the Thames River between Richmond and Kew in the suburbs of South-West London.

The Gardens are a World Heritage Site with six magnificent glasshouses and are home to a remarkable collection of plants including over 14,000 trees. The Gardens function as a botanical research centre and maintains the largest plant collection in the world.
