Apple & Vino

Test via Little Photo app.

The Motorola Bionic can take pictures of 8MP max, which equates to about 1.2-1.5MB in size. I wanted to see what the Little Photo app, did to the resizing of the photo. The app can only do a max resolution of 1024. Because of the limitation, the file size of the photo is reduced to about 120-140kb, so uploaded to here to see what it looked like. Surprisingly good...much better than I thought it would look. That means the Little Photo app is better in its processing than I thought at keeping the quality of the image. This also means that the camera on the Bionic is very good for a phone.
I'm still bummed about the LP app though, because my phone is capable of over 3k resolution, which means that the photo above when viewed at 1024 is about 30% of what it could be. That's really good for a camera phone and could make for some nice prints. I will have to give LP some feedback, but I know one reason they limit the resolution is that all phones can handle the software processing. My phone is brand new and can handle A LOT. Maybe they can make a PRO version of the app for those super phones.

This is the first time shooting fireworks with the 5D, since last year's ended up being rained out. Had to experiment with a few lenses initially but as it was a little breezy and I only had my lightweight tripod, I settled with the IS 24-105mm. As I was "camped" fairly close to the fireworks site too, this lens also gave me the most flexibility. I was pleasantly surprised, when I loaded these onto my computer, how well they came out. I actually have about 100 quality images. Probably about 20-30 of these ended up with just fantastic composition.
