Oak Titmouse chick (Baeolophus, inornatus)
Fresh out of the nest, this little chick was learning to fly but having a tough time learning the technique.
To prevent it being harmed by a predator, I carefully picked it up and placed it back on the mossy trunk of the Black Oak tree in which it's nest was. Although it was very tired, it manage to crawl up the trunk back in to some leafy hiding place. It's parents were calling frantically to it the whole time it was on the ground.
Observed in Cool, California.
