The past as facade # 2
The best shopfronts are picture frames. Or like a theatre's proscenium arch, framing beautiful and evocative stage sets.
This shop's facade shows part of its history. A.Gold is an officially 'listed' certified piece of the past. A real historic container from which a modern grocery store can sell specialist "artisanal" food.
A pleasure to view and visit. And we can even pretend it's a traditional British shop; typical of this small area of London. Which since 2000 it has now become, as the edge pushes eastward between the huge wealth of the commercial City of London and poorer areas of the East End.
