The Beginnings of Green

The Beginnings of Green by Reciprocity.
Bending Light #68

Another 'double refraction' or 'recursive' pattern. The light is first refracted through a piece of shaped and blown clear glass and then this refraction pattern is passed through one of my moulded plastic shapes into which colours have been incorporated.

For new viewers: these are analog images of the refraction patterns of a beam of light passing through various transparent objects. The image is captured directly on to 35mm film, no camera lens is used ( this is a photogram using film instead of photographic paper). No Photoshop is used only Picasa2 for alignment and cropping. The slide film was lab processed and scanned for uploading.

When viewed large the fine bands of diffraction patterns and also some faint refraction 'rainbows' can be seen.

To me this is another 'galactic' image deep in space, but you may have other ideas.

Very nice.

I spent the weekend underwater, and therefore this looks like the deep, deep places, that i see in my dreams after diving.

(It's odd, a lot of people have 'flying dreams' after diving.)

Faerie - yet another delight, soothing, relaxing - yet triggering imagination! I find more under-water (again) than space ... yet there ARE so many stars, too! (Maybe the sense of underwater is because the sunlight through water does create similar ripples, though this photo doesn't show them very strongly

Reminds me of holograms I used to make - same process: laser light diffracted through glass and sheets of plastic and projected directly onto high-res aerial photography film. It is wonderful to look at the three-dimensional images. Your series is stunningly beautiful and your journey of exploration is absolutely wonderful!
