Somehow the tipper portion of a lorry managed to wedge itself under a gantry on the M80 near Stirling. Fortunately no one was badly hurt. Taken on Camera Phone

Well, much much later, they've removed the Corsa, the tipper and the top of the sign. I actually applauded as I drove past, fantastic work. Now to find out if the road's open tomorrow morning ...

On the way into work this morning (thankfully took less than 2 minutes to get from Old Inns to the gantry sign as opposed to hours), I saw more of what they've done. The road is perfectly clear, no sign of debris or crap left behind. The entire top of the gantry, including the blue sign, has been removed, leaving only the concrete pillars.
Haggs Interchange has been hit before with delays due to works and accidents, so I hope when they decide to replace the sign, they don't completely screw up the mornings for all us eastbound commuters yet again :)

The story i was told from my dad, who was at the scene, was that the lorry driver had just made a delivery, and somehow forgot to put the tipper thing back down, so cruised off down the road, and then hit the sign. Many people thought it was a simple case of pulling the tipper thing off, but it had bent the gantry, and was actually holding it up, you can almost see the bend in this photo. So they had to get a crane, which is why it took so long to clear.

I remember that day. We needed to go on that motorway, and we got took up to through the backroads near Banknock to get through to Stirling. Nightmare.
