As a nursing student I really want to start an IV on you. It's sad that veins have become one of the first things that I notice about people.

BIG WRATH

I am doing this series with my Love, My Rosie, we are each doing an interpretation of the SE7EN deadly sins. We are both in each others images, andthe difference in imagery always astounds me, she has the most amazing mind of anyone I have ever met.

Had one of those days..the beast came out..can't help it...guess I had better embrace it.

I felt a little uncomfortable doing this shot, it actually came out pretty damn scary, and though the image is supposed to be a representation of WRATH, I don't want it to look like I would ever hurt my Rosie.

I find sometimes that the balance between creating an image that is suitable enough to mimic what I see in my head, and making something that does not cross the line can be difficult. To me, boring is the worst thing an image can be, and sometimes doing something like this raises concerns even with me.

"Be careful what you pretend to be, because you are what you pretend to be." - Kurt Vonnegut
I think about this quote often, as I think it applies to any aspects of life. 4 More images to go, hope I don't turn into something I will regret.

I think its good to go places you yourself are scared of...or concerned about. Better to get it out and look at it then lock it up and lose a valuable perspective!.

I just wanted to point out that you have possibly one of the highest hit-to-miss ratio of awesome photos on all of flickr. When I typed "strobist" into flickr search four of your photos were on the first page of results sorted by interestingness. Four. That's 1/6 of the first page of results out of over 180,000 photos tagged with strobist.

I'd be happy with one! (although I don't have any photos tagged with strobist yet... Only a couple' more weeks until I should be able to order the starving strobist kit from mpex, though :))

This is a portrayal, a symbolic representation of what you believe to be an accurate interpretation of the various actions of the human race to be detrimental to the development of mankind. While it is true that their is a 'danger' of becoming that which you pretend to be, you can take solace in recognizing that their is a difference.

Its similiar to those who "talk" of their being a God, lipservice so to speak, but "act" as if their is no God. I'd rather keep company with those who demonstrate a quiet, wise composure, than a blathering idiot professing his love.

Have to comment again now that you added a lengthier description.

It's wonderful that you are so aware of what your images may mean. Many people just do the photography thing and don't really think about what it may look like or what it may suggest. This becomes even more important when what you do is self-portraits. Though none of us believe you would ever hurt Rosie, your level of awareness (and, in turn, your decision to explain it to viewers) is commendable. : )

what a brave soul you are to look at yourself. This is a very instinctive image and as a woman, I can relate to feeling trapped by our patriarchal culture. I see the helplessness in Rosie's eyes and hands..... so many women are victims all over the world. Being so open, how could you not channel this image? And so many men fall into wanting to possess and trap the beauty and enormous creativity that women have. I don't know that I see wrath... here. Rather I see an ancient archetypal struggle between the sexes. Wonderful work.

A long time ago people talked about "character" as an important thing for people to have. Character is taking on an acting role, as well. Some of the better people in the world had character by acting as if they had the qualities they wanted to have.

So Vonnegut, I think, was restating a deep truth. Acting in real life can become being.

But playing? That's a different beastie. It's fun to play sometimes.
