Grace Potter and the Nocturnals played an intimate show on Tuesday night, the 30th of July, at Hodi's Half Note in Fort Collins, Colorado. One of a few quick stops for the band as they head to Rothbury, Michigan for THE festival of the year. 40,000 Music fans, art officianados, and earth conscience folks, getting together and sharing ideas and having a real good time.

Yeah, Bob Dylan will be there. Willie too. The Dead as well. 70 bands on a bunch of different stages and the lineup is amazing. The best of the best in many genres.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals will be there too and you shouldn't miss her if you happen to attend.

Rothbury sounds like fun and I'm sure everyone will talk about that being "the show" at the festival. Years later people will say, "I was at Rothbury when Grace took the stage. It was epic."
I'm sure some incredible musicians will drop in and play with her.

However, none of them will get to see what I saw the other night at Hodi's Half Note. About 100 people showed up on a Tuesday, a few days after Brewfest, to rock out with Grace and the band, Nobody at Rothbury will get as close as we did that night.
She kept thanking us and saying they would be back to Fort Collins. All I could think was "thank YOU and we will probably need to build a bigger venue, for the next time you come". The show was incredible and the energy the band creates is really something. I've seen a LOT of concerts over the years many amazing artists. This was the first time I had a chance to see Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and I was floored. Very impressed to say the least!

Grace Potter is a very talented musician. Her voice is amazing and she uses it so well. Soulful and beautiful, her range is really something. Not only that but she tears it up on the Hammond B3 organ and plays a nice slide guitar. To top it all off, she is a very sexy woman who knows how to work the crowd. Don't be fooled by her beauty though, she is the total package. A true musician and performer. She really gets into her work and her passion for it shows, making the music that much better.
And don't think it's all about Grace either. The Nocturnals are a talented bunch and they play with an amazing amount of energy. They are all showmen and the group really connects well together when they are up on stage.


We live in a world where 95% of the people know who Britney Spears is, but only about 5% know who Grace Potter is. That's a real shame. I realize the "American Idol" trend of just walking in and singing a few times and getting a big contract is the thing to do, but it's not real music. ARE WE ALL TEENAGERS STILL? ;)

THIS is real music performed by people who have put blood, sweat, and tears into their work. They've been on the road for years, working at their craft and perfecting it. Playing for peanuts and living in cars. If you are going to buy another album from a flash in the pan "singer" that won a contest, you owe it to yourself to check out Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Your soul will thank you for it.
