The March of Mankind

It is really a battle against ourselves - can we prevent ourselves from taking over everything natural, or will we continue to encroach on the animal's land, finding one day how to train these rhino to push an elevator button and go to sleep in their 21st floor condo? Anyway, I really liked this picture because of the contrast of natural vs man made, free vs confined, horizontal vs vertical, etc. And this is only in Nairobi Kenya - we are way past this pretty much everywhere in the developed world. BTW, this is the Black Rhino, a critically endangered species in Kenya.

Hardly need to don your pith helmet to go on safari here! Just go see the rhinos when you take the dog for a walk. Great juxtaposition of developed and pristine.

That contrast is fairly awesome! Makes you think about the way the human race is scarring the world! Of course, if we weren't here there would be a totally different balance of flora and fauna, and there would still be extinctions - but who would notice - who would care - who would try to do something about it?

The title of the photograph makes the difference and the contrast clearly visable wich is a huge problem globally, but to make a very complicated issue, said in some very short simple words, the outcome of the conflict between man and nature is very simple nature will always be the dominant force
An excellent capture wich makes you think and makes it visable AJ
