One thing I've noticed about a street photography project is that I meet a lot of homeless people. They generally aren't in a hurry and they surprisingly like to talk a lot. I think so many people just walk past them that when someone stops and says hello, it catches them off guard. Rubin used to have a love for photography (he shot 35mm) and now he literally struggles to stay alive. Rubin is living on the street with type 1 diabetes.
It's surprising how attached I become with my strangers. I find myself going back and looking at my set and remembering their stories. In this case I will say a little prayer when I see Rubin's face.
