• Pencil stub. Necessary for keeping score and playing paper games.
  • Abbreviated pad of Post-It (brand) notes. Good for scorekeeping, but you can also stick them to stuff for games.
  • 5 dice. Just the right number for Yahtzee, or use 2 for 'standard' games.
  • Not immediately obvious from this picture, but 6 plastic markers in different colors, and 16 cardboard 'winks' in 4 different colors.
  • Deck of 'mini' playing cards. Bicycle, of course. With 2 Jokers.
  • Crib sheet for 'Duel', my own 'clone' of Magic-the Gathering for play with ordinary playing cards.
  • 4 mini sheets of grid paper, for playing Battleship and other grid paper games.
  • A 'universal' folding gameboard. Printed on a thin sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper, it includes an 8x10 checkerboard and a 1/2 sheet of hexboard.
  • The whole thing is stashed in an Altoids tin.
  • There are also 2 paperclips. These are just to keep things neat, but there's no reason you can't use them in gameplay, too.

My entry to the Altoids Pocket Tin contest at www.altoids.com/
My favorite toy when I was a kid was the "57 Games Chest". It featured a half-dozen gameboards, two dice, some plastic markers, and instructions for - yep - 57 games. My
'Altoids Pocket Games Chest' trumps it by fitting in your pocket. The APGC contains a half-dozen colorful plastic markers, sixteen cardboard 'winks', a folding gameboard, some grid paper, a pencil, five dice, a deck of 'mini' playing cards, a pad of Post-it notes, and a laminated cheatsheet for some favorite games.

Do you still have the rules for "duel"? The link doesn't seem to be working.

My ISP wiped out my website. I'll get it back online eventually. Sorry.

For now, the rules to Duel can be found on the Wayback Machine.

I imagine you're going to get several more requests, since this page was featured on the list of 22 Manly Ways to Reuse an Altoids Tin.

Here are a couple of ideas:

Mini sewing kit. Thread. Needles. Pins. Better than the breakable shells usually found in pharmacies. Plus you can add some specific items of your own like buttons, bigger / smaller/ more safety pins, etc.

Medication box. [Vitamins also]. Use cotton or paper towel so that they don't rattle around.

Meditation Box: Incense, incense holder, matches or small lighter.
(Recommend wrapping sticks inside some paper to make bundles. Tape the paper. Might want to use cotton as padding.

[Flash Drives / Flash Cards / SD Cards]

    [Rubber Bands / Paper Clips]
