Taken over by books

Currently reading:
Zadie Smith's On Beauty.
(that's why just the dustcover is sitting here--I've thrown the book in my bag).

New Yorkers and Walrus and Hobo magazines.

I asked for a french dictionary for my birthday. I got a dictionary with the word FRENCH (written in english) on the cover. Did he not get the irony?!

This is getting a little crazy. I've actually culled some less-loved of my books recently to make space for the stacks that are piling up around the apartment. It broke my heart to do so but with two people in a 500 square foot apartment, you gotta give some things up. (I even resisted the urge to just toss all of HIS books and keep all mine... the compromises we have to make.)

For those who know us, you can definately pick out which are his and which are mine: Stephen King, his; dictionaries, mine; MS Excel Bible, his; Bellow, Ginsberg and Amis, mine; What Colour Is My Parachute, his; Plath and Woolfe, mine. One exception: we fight over who gets Jack Kerouac.

@Яuby I have all the book spines lined up near the edge of the shelves. This makes it much easier to dust and it all seems a bit neater. Also, it's much easier to scan all the titles this way—the slimmer tomes don't seem to get lost as they're squished between larger volumes.
