Some new buds on a plum blossom tree in front of the Haas Business School, Berkeley, CA. I shot this through a nearby bush to create the greenish film on the right side of the photo. Other than cropping, this shot is not otherwise manipulated--no levels tweaks, saturation, etc. I have the old-fashioned goal of producing beautiful images solely through skill with the camera rather than with post-processing. It's nice when this goal works out.

The plum blossoms are just starting to bloom. They come a little later than the cherry blossoms. There is a wonderful tree near the Faculty Club at UC Berkeley. At lunch, I like to stand in the garden and shoot these through the high backlight of the January sun.
