    The shingle technique is so subtle and natural that I almost glossed over it. I never would have thought simple 1x1's would make such a nice effect. Nicely done!

    Thanks all for the charming compliments! Carson: like Mainman indicates, the shinges are sideways 1x1 bricks and plates. I first took notice of this technique here, where the builder credits it to an unspecified issue of the magazine RailBricks. I would love to see whether the original was documented alone or integrated, if anyone could find it.
