Carthaginian general Hannibal, son of Hamilcar Barca, crossing the treacherous Western Alps in 218 BC.
Not quite black, but surely a key figure of the African diaspora. And yes, that is a Duplo elephant.

Nice job, and a very interesting/good choice character to do.
and cute elephant he may be, but a bunch of these smiling beasties could be as happy as babies out for a stroll, the facing troops are still gonna poop their pants

awesome!
i would have used the other elephant, but this works fine. (plus it's cheaper)
awesome use of parts, too.

It does seem quite adorable, doesn't it? I have used the Duplo variant over the official Lego system mold for two reasons; the first of which being this one resembles the African Bush Elephant more closely than the Lego system one which seems to resemble the Indian Elephant. Secondly, and primarily, I do not own the system elephant so I made do with what I had. =)
Many thanks to all of you, Mr. Anubisconq, Fredde, Mr. Bam. I'm especially glad you appreciate the history behind our father of strategy.

Thought that elephant looked suspicious, but couldn't put my finger on it...
Love the armour/packs on it though!

The Lego one is similar to an Indian elephant, eh? Maybe that's because the system elephant was introduced in the Orient Expedition sets, which, took place in India.
That's my two cents.

Precisely! The LEGO designers aren't complete retards, you know.....
....they just seem to be acting like it with the new agents line.....
Oh, and thanks very much for the compliment, Mr. Orange!

^ Haha! So true!
And great scene and fig. The packs on the Oliphaunt (sp?) look fantastic. And the snow / outdoor setting are cool as well.

Haha, thanks Mr. DRK, I'm especially glad you took a liking to my frigid snowy scenery. But seriously, this is no Tolkien creation, no sir! That's a pure bread Carthaginian elephantus you see there, a highly trained and well armored Loxodonta africana!

TLC should really take note of this. Great idea!

Yeah, especially with the prospect of a new Roman theme sometime in the future. P:
It's not very likely, but I do appreciate the nice response. =)

@oo7: Yeah, I was kidding. :D Anyways, it's superb.
And you ought to consider trying some more Tolkien stuff. Your Fellowship is/was great.

I wouldn't worry about the face dude. Hannibal wasn't a black African anyway.
Ɲ. 64 months ago | reply
Ahh, I now see that line wasn't very clear...I was referring to Hannibal himself as a person. Indeed he wasn't 'black' but he was certainly African.

Love the shot and great Hannibal. Reading the comments you have had above perhaps you could try building an elephant instead of relying on pre-made moulds next time?
Seen in the Greco-Roman LEGO group.

I actually think that the use of a Duplo elephant is genius. Some may make brick-built ones but the duplo one gives it a more Lego feel, also it looks fantastic.
