Holiday Lodge

    Took this one through a windshield on a grey day. I like this sign -- they just don't make 'em like that any more. The place proudly advertises both HBO TV and refrigerated air. What more could you ask?

      Now why didn't I think to take a picture of that? I will have to get the "$23.95 a night" sign when I am back in town. There are several motels in Denton that are cheaper per night than a tank of a gas in a compact car.

      I'm told that at the Clayton House off of University, you can rent rooms by the hour.

      If you like retro signage then you should check out lileks.com. He's got a HUGE collection of photos and postcards of those sort of signs and hotels. He's also got a section called The Gallery of Regrettable Foods that's hilarious! Photos from those retro/old timey recipe booklets to which he's added really funny comments.
