I saw this as I pulled into work this morning and it made me giggle. I'm not sure how long it has been there, but I only noticed it today.
Brings back all those memories of buying cassette singles (cuz I was po') back in the early 90's...

Saw the same phrase on a stop sign in my town in 1994. Was done with a fat black permanent marker. Since then I've seen it on stop signs around the country, usually stenciled. What does it mean?

the Always Accurate wikipedia wikipedia has acomprehensive listing of the various contexts that "hammertime" has appeared over the years. maybe someone should edit the page to include this stop sign phenomenon since the doppleganger photo to this shot is now in the top ten results for stop happertime.
