The How Weird Street Faire is an annual street fair (almost every district has one in the spring/summer) that caters to the inner rave child in all of us. (Well, not so much for me now as I realized at this year's fair that I was officially... wait for it... OLD.) How Weird got its name because it is located on Howard St. in SoMa. So clever, eh?
Each year San Francisco Atheists has a non-profit booth where we talk to the folks there and sell buttons, bumper stickers, books, etc..., and get folks signed up for the mailing list.
The best part this year was how giving folks were to our Darwin Scholarship, a scholarship we give out each year to a local college student. Our fund raising goal each year is $1000, and we brought in almost $200 at the fair alone. Wow!

A Darwin Scholarship?? That's so funny. What type of student gets it, typically?

cpurrin1 - the scholarship is open to students in local colleges in San Francisco. We have an essay contest and the winner gets their award at our annual Darwin Day celebration.
