Dismantling and fixing an iPod Shuffle
With all the whining and bitching in the press about people's iPods dying just outside of the warranty period, I've always been quite smug about the long and loyal service of my iPod (heavy daily use since January 05).

However, my little iPod Shuffle (mostly used at the gym) had been dying temporarily for a while... I assumed this was due to sweat getting in through the headphone socket and causing a short circuit somewhere, but the problem became more frequent and seemed unrelated to temperature or humidity.

I decided the battery must be dying. Reluctant to pay Apple's service prices, I Googled for instructions on how to dismantle the Shuffle and a source for replacement batteries. Here's what happened...
