Rocky Balboa
Rocky Balboa
A cheap loan shark drifts slowly through the Philadelphia streets, If you only believe in stereotypes, you would instantly label him a creep. Some would call him a real waste of life, an unwelcome outcast for any society, Surely adopting this narrow minded view only shows your own anxiety. Rocky Balboa had all the attributes to be a true warrior in the ring, His talent was undoubtedly being wasted, not helped by living on a shoe-string. His life changed over night after Apollo Creed plucked him from obscurity, Lesser men would have only seen this as a ticket for financial security. The Italian Stallion created a lethal partnership with his trainer Mickey, Punching meat caught the eye of the press, if anything it was a little gimmicky. The big title fight drew nearer and nearer by the second, Extra preparation was called for as the main event beckoned. The tough and intense training schedule included drinking six raw eggs, Rocky was also thrown an orange as he ran up the now infamous steps. Rocky knew the most he could wish for was going the distance, He would have to show good guile, a strong heart and unrivalled persistence. The crowd waited in baited breath for the two boxers to enter the arena, An easy win for creed, a formality, a publicity stunt in the eyes of the media. The fight was a mammoth affair, Rocky’s stature grew after every round, Could the biggest upset in sporting history unfold and a new champion crowned? Both Apollo and Rocky looked like they had been involved in a bitter war, As the bell rang to signal the end of the fight, the crowd let out an almighty roar. Apollo Creed clung onto to his title after winning the epic boxing match on points, The end result wasn’t important to Rocky, his only goal was not to disappoint. Adrian sneaked into the ring and clung to Rocky as tight as can be, A real champion was born that day, and as they say the rest is history.
