Dunoon

Dunoon

Kayak fishing from the Cloch light house to Dunoon,2,5 miles across the Clyde estuary..By car it would have been a 80 miles journey but kayaking through it is much quicker !

Cloch Light house.

Cloch Light house.

The Cloch lighthouse was built in 1797 is one of the oldest working lighthouses in Scotland. It was designed by Thomas Smith with help from his son-in-law Robert Stevenson.
Unlike most of the Stevenson lights, the Cloch was built and operated by the Clyde Lighthouses Trust rather than the Northern Lighthouse Board. The other lights which Robert Stevenson designed for them were Toward Point and Little Cumbrae.
The lantern and lens were changed in 1903 (engineer David A Stevenson) and are still in place. The light however is now provided by a small lens located outside on the balcony.
