oh, totally! There were police everywhere. I didn't stick around to see the outcome. I assume they got him down or he climbed down...or rollerbladed down.

They got him down - the police seemed to describe him as either an "emotionally disturbed person" or a protester.

Also, this is a great shot on a number of levels - your timing, the great silhouette of his fire on the globe, and the sense of scale with the composition (getting the light in). Awesome!

Thanks jen!

Glad to hear he eventually got down without any harm to himself (or harm to the huge crowd gawking up at him).

It's things like this that make me glad I'm a new yorker....funny as and i wouldn't see anything like this where i'm from that's for sure...just happened to be chillin accross the street when the guy got up there. he just climbed up rollerblades and all, same way he got down. i thought for sure i was going to see someone die. he's going to jail and risked his life for some stupid promo or something (i kept some of the flyers he threw out from the top), but it takes balls to that - or some reaaaallly good acid...

I am friends with Richard Fredette, I have worked with him in the past, I can personally assure you that he IS NOT an emotionally disturbed person nor a protester. For a long time he has wanted to sit atop the world fair globe, just because, well he wanted to, AND HE DID, and he's VERY happy now!
