Spiral Escalator - San Francisco

Dedicated to sediama and her wonderful stairs.

I found this spiral escalator the Westfield San Francisco Centre a big shopping mall in San Francisco. It was interesting to learn that it was the first such installation in the Western Hemisphere (wikipedia) and we later found more spiral escalators in the Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas.

Of course I couldn’t pass them by without taking a picture. After a couple of experiments I went with a 1 sec exposure and was fascinated by the effect this has on the steps.
