Cologne Cathedral at Nighttime

Cologne Cathedral at Nighttime

Goodbye Cologne

After a good two years in Cologne I'm leaving for Strasbourg, France, but I didn't want to leave without at least one picture of Cologne. So this is the famous Cologne Cathedral at nighttime with the Hohenzollern Bridge to the right and Great St. Martin Church on the left.

If you have the time you should consider to have a look at the large version!

To all my visitors: I hope you had a great time and I wish you all the best for 2012 and beyond.

Frost

Frost

After my last (re)post my laptop broke down while I was on a business trip and I wasn't able to visit for a while. I hope you all had wonderful holidays.

On a cold winter day, shortly after my wedding, I had a wonderful walk in Sahlenburg, a part of my hometown Cuxhaven in Germany, and was fascinated when I found those ice crystals forming.

Me, Myself, and I

Me, Myself, and I

Today it's about Me, Myself, and I

I took this recently while being home alone for a week. Time to experiment. It was a lot of fun putting this together and I would like to share it with you.

Some more pictures of me in the comments.

P.S.: Don't try to understand the secret message(s) I put in there for my wife. You're very unlikely to succeed.

P.P.S: Thanks for three explored pictures this week. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
P.P.P.S: I will keep on visiting my visitors even if I won't find the time to post myself.

At the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Horticultural Show) 2011 in Koblenz

At the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Horticultural Show) 2011 in Koblenz

I noticed that although being a German I haven’t posted many pictures of Germany. So here is a series of pictures I took at our recent visit to the Federeal Horticultural Show (Bundesgartenschau) held from 15 April to 16 October 2011 in Koblenz. It was a day with some nice sunny spells but with many clouds and a lot of rain. Therefore there are not many flowers in the series instead I was focussing on the landscape and the weather.

The main post was taken close to the Deutsches Eck (German Corner) on the banks of the Rhine at its confluence with the Moselle with a look over to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Crossing the Rhine you can see the cable car (established in 2010) one of the attractions for the horticultural show connecting the Rhine shores near the Basilica of St. Kastor with the plateau in front of the fortress.

Hook Head Lighthouse

Hook Head Lighthouse

Dear flickr Friends,

for those who know me from my flickr postings – or from real life – you’ll find some personal notes down in the first comment.

For all: I hope you’ll enjoy this view of Hook Head Lighthouse. I visited this beautiful place on our vacation trip to Ireland this May.

The Hook Lighthouse (also known as Hook Head Lighthouse) is a building situated at the tip of the Hook Peninsula in Country Wexford, in Ireland. It is one of the oldest lighthouses in the world, and the oldest operating lighthouse in the British Isles. It marks the eastern entrance to Waterford Harbour. The current structure has stood for almost 800 years. (from wikipedia)
