This fantastic place is the clubhouse that my great-grandfather, Ralph, had in his early twenties with his brother, Harry. I'm not sure exactly where this clubhouse was located. I think it may have been either in the attic of Ralph and Harry's house or possibly in this building (www.flickr.com/photos/addie-b/7861090650/in/photostream/), which would have been somewhere on his parents' property. They must have been the most popular boys in town with a clubhouse as impressive as this one. They've got a desk in the back for schoolwork (which Ralph is using in this picture), a pool table for recreation, a fireplace for warmth and plenty of knickknacks and school flags to adorn the walls. Emporia, Kansas was where they lived, HSN were the initials on the uniform that Ralph's basketball team wore, so that must have been his school and I believe that ORR is the abbreviation of Harry's school's name, because he's wearing a sweater with those initials on it, but I'm not sure what the school's full name is.
This picture was taken, apparently by a professional photographer, in 1915, very possibly at the same time that the family home was being photographed by the same photographer. It may have well been unplanned as Harry and Ralph have a friend over for a game of pool, who is identified on the reverse as Willis Gee (or Tee), one of the people shown outside the building that may be the outside of the clubhouse in 1912.
