The ghosts are out on Sunset Blvd.

The ghosts are out on Sunset Blvd.

This was an attempt at using my ND filter during the day to create some motion blur of people walking down Sunset Blvd. I had some shots that had everybody blurred, but preferred this version of the three girls in motion while most everybody else was frozen in time.

I had some fun with the processing and like how it turned out. Though I am not sure if I prefer it to the more normal processed version as seen in the comments. Thoughts?

Hope everybody has a great day. Be sure to check out Disney Photography Blog today for the first part of a new series by Todd Hurley.

Good Morning

Good Morning

I always enjoy how the cast members line the sidewalks of Main Street, U.S.A. to greet the guests as they first enter in the morning. Plus, it can make for some fun photo opportunities.

Have a great weekend!

Gone Fishing on Tom Sawyer Island

Gone Fishing on Tom Sawyer Island

This is one of my favorite photo spots in the Magic Kingdom. It offers some great views of Thunder Mountain, Frontierland and the passing Liberty Belle. Plus it is very quiet except for a few people who will walk by that happen to be exploring Tom Sawyer Island.

I set this shot up using my tripod and attached a fisheye that I had rented. It ended up being three brackets that I manually combined in Photoshop using masks and layer blending (future Disney Photography Blog article :)

Have a great day and don't forget to purchase your Patriots AFC Championship gear today! :-)

Back on flickr

Back on flickr

I want to thank everybody on flickr and in the Disney photography community who have sent me messages the last two months. I have not been around posting but I have definitely been keeping up on everybody's photos when I could via my iPad. It has been a crazy two months between getting pneumonia at the end of November and then having both my mother and grandmother suffer heart attacks on the same day. My mother ended up needing quadrupedal bypass surgery on Christmas, but luckily everybody is now doing great and recovering!

I missed a lot of work during this time, which is where all my free time has been lately. I did end up purchasing a Macbook Air though because I needed to keep up with work while at the hospital. Luckily Lightroom runs great on it so I was able to start processing photos and now have a good queue ready to post.

I am looking forward checking out everybody's stream each morning again.

Thanks again to everybody for their thoughts and prayers during all of this - it really meant a lot!

A Size 6067/8 Sorcerer's Hat

A Size 6067/8 Sorcerer's Hat

I was talking with somebody yesterday and the subject of this hat came up. We were wondering what the hat size would be and thanks to about one minute on Google, I was able to figure it out.

The fiberglass hat stands 122 feet tall and has an interior space of 60,000 cubic feet. That converts to a hat size of 6067/8.

That is a pretty big hat! Does anybody know when they stopped the spotlights behind the hat? I have not seem them at all on my last few trips and thought they added a lot to the park.

Also, today we are launching a FREE iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch Disney app. Disney World Christmas Photo a Day is now available in the app store and we hope you will download it!
