That's never going to work, try putting it on a radiator or in the airing cupboard.

Andy Ihnatko (http://www.cwob.com/yellowtext/) has just done a water damage test on six phones (not iPhone though). Might be worth pinging him to see which method worked best.

Keeping everything crossed it comes back to life.

Maybe kitty litter plus a radiator? Just don't get the temp up over 100 degrees. Can you stick that pan in a window with sunlight coming through? Just a little kick. It maybe all it needs. I think you got the right idea though going down the dessicant pathway.

Adam: While regular old kitty litter will help, you might have some residue problems due to the dust particles. The litter Andy tested was special crystal granules, non-dusty stuff aka silica gel. You can get SG at craft stores, it is used to dry flowers. I save the packages that come with computer, camera and other electronic stuff. Now I know why.

SmudgyPixels - my coment on Andy's blog pointed him to that mythbusters-Andy-style video. Homebrew white rice works almost as good. That surprised me. The silica gel did not as I do science for a living.

Look on the bright side--since you're famous and it's been dipped in your holy water, you might be able to recover your losses by putting it on EBay.

My wife "washed" her mp3 player today. Lucky for me I had a vacuum chamber laying around. I chunked that puppy in the chamber and pulled a hard vacuum for 45 minutes....boiled all of the water out at room temperature and brought the mp3 player back to life. I highly recommed this approach for dunked iPods and cellphones. Results may vary.

did it work?

I woke so a laundered iphone this morning. It's currently packed in rice and wrapped in a seed germinating mat.
