messenger bag

    From Oliver and S Little Things to Sew book. LOVE this pattern.

    There are so many great details in this cute little bag. Love the hardware on the strap and the side pockets. Also, this thing is sturdy. It stands up on its own--in this photo, it is empty. {No secret bloggy propping, like I sometimes have to do!}

      Amazing! Great fabric, espically how you combined it with the brown and checks. I can think of a number of boys (and dads) who would love this. Well done

      Thanks. That's especially nice to hear b/c I wasn't loving the solid brown at first and I was wishing that the navy/white plaid stood out a bit more from the star wars print. But in the end, I was super happy with it.

      Excellent fabric choices. I'd been thinking of using the same fabric for the strap as for the binding, but you've pointed out the much better option! Well done!

      Fantastic! This will be a hit!! How heavy are the fabrics and interfacing you used?

      Thanks! Someone gave me that brown fabric a while ago. I think it is a cotton duck canvas? Its very sturdy. I didn't use interfacing, but I used the brown canvas for the lining as well, so that is what helped to give the bag such nice form. The one and only think I would do differently is add a middle layer of canvas to the flap piece. That piece is just the star wars fabric and one layer of canvas. I was being lazy. I should have listened to the pattern.
