Smart shopkeepers. (And you'd be hard pushed to find a better example in the UK of the brand awareness achieved by Google.) I was amazed to see a MySpace URL appear in big letters in the window of a local, very run-down looking pub a few months ago; the URL is still there but I only realised last Friday why it was there - when I walked past the pub, I saw it was full to the brim with teens, making a MySpace page almost a necessity.

Okay, so these are official Google Maps stickers? That changes things somewhat (the shopkeepers aren't quite as enterprising as they once seemed) but that world's-changing-very-fast feeling remains.

Think so, however, some of these business isn't on Google Maps, as ztephen said here.

There may be some kind of delay between them sinning up to advertising on Google Maps after getting there Google Maps stickers may be?

Yes, it will take about 6 weeks, at least that's how long it takes here in the US. By the way, you can list your business on Google Maps for free.
